The Spider

A spider came a calling
Into my home last night.
I walked into the hallway
He was there!
I had a fright!
He had what seemed like a body
That was as big as a 50p.
His legs were there all sticking out
I’m sure he was staring up at me!
He didn’t move.
He stayed real still.
I couldn’t move at all.
What was this hairy visitor
Doing sitting in my hall?
I thought it’s you or me my butty
Which one is moving out?
But neither of us moved an inch
I could hear myself quietly shout!
I braved the glass and cardboard trick
For killing him was a no go.
How I held my guts and nerves
I just don’t bloody know!
There he was inside the glass
My hands trembling under this hairy beast
Outside into the garden he went
Where I’m sure he will have a feast.
Or is he sitting there looking in
At ways to creep right back indoor?
I’ve a feeling he’s staring back at me
Oh dear!
My nerves can’t take no more! more!
